i know, i suck . . . (i think i'll go whistle in the dark now . . . ) it's been a few days, i know, but in my defense: i have had some killer OT and i was so tired that i slept yesterday to make up for the 12 hr nightshift i picked up Friday (i was decorating so i couldn't update!) and i just got internet back up today. does your forgiveness come free or with a steep price? i only have the half-tilt and innocent smile to pay you so, buck up and get a life if this is all you have, or go see Uncle Bob but only if you are not a supersensitve crybaby freak who will e-mail him with your complaints on his diary. it seems he has had some of that lately and has been a bit upset by it. He is great, i just love his diary but that's MY opinion. UNCLE BOB, YOU ROCK!
i was talking to O. Penguin a few nights ago, and we were discussing Dog and Dog's place in our lives. (For anyone wondering, Brat hates me to use Dog's name in vain and after one of our futile attempts to discuss theology, i agreed to not use Dog's name in vain. then i remembered the old joke about the agnostic dyslexic insomniac . . . it just get's worse from there, but i got used "Dog" and now it's habit.) Back to O. Penguin. We have come to a few simple conclusions. Dog is not either Male or female, but the embodiment of both. Creation could never have happened with out both halves. Dog may or may not be infallible, but the BIBLE is not perfect. This book has been translated too many times to be counted on and 100% correct. And it was written BY HUMANS who may or may not have had their own agendas to further. It has been translated so many times in to new languages that the content is surely been changed in this way, too.
Then, as NaomiBeth said, " . . . God didn't just pass out laws indiscriminately." It seems to me to be a great idea to not eat food that will kill me. Back then, pork could kill them. Therefore, someone, somewhere says, "God spoke to me and said thusly, 'Do NOT eat pork'." Does it seem a good idea to YOU not to let poisoners live? Me too! Do you know that reasearch has show that the passage about "Thall shalt not suffer a witch to live" really meant "poisoner"? Do you realize how many unpopular women died for that goof up? What do we say to them now? "Oops! Sorry! Our bad!" i mean, you are new in town, turn the head of the richest bachelor, act a bit different, some one's 30 year old cow kicks it, and you must DIE!
Some of the most pious people i have ever met are also hypocrites. i am allergic to hypocrites. therefore, i stopped going to their hangouts. i don't mind as we didn't get along all that well and i do not agree in funding their dream of perpetuating their hypocracy on other, possibly more gullible, victims. (this does NOT mean i think all christians are hypocrites, does it? They aren't. i know many and love them all. i just can't deal with the ones that ARE. Hence, not going to thier hangouts ~ and i don't ask hypocrites to MINE.) i believe in one thing. The ulitmate commandment:
Do as you would be done by.
How can you go wrong? Do you want someone to steal from you? NO? THEN DON'T STEAL! Do you want somone to take your head off with a machete? NO? THEN DON'T KILL! Do you want people to constantly hound you telling you that they sought you out to tell you they don't approve of your opinion? Or people to tell you what you can & cannot do all the time? No? Then look, if they do not directly affect how you live your life, you have the right to walk away, to delete the bookmark, to not seek that person out to talk to. You have the right to leave them alone. In politics, you even have the right to vote for the OTHER guy.
i see no reason censorship for the same reasons. If you need to say it, say it! If you don't like it, don't listen. i understand the rating system (to give you a general idea of what you are getting into) it makes sense. It really is what has been done to cover for the depressing lack of parental supervision and involvement, but so many measures have been put up for the same hypocrites who do not want to actually be responsible parents but want to scream & blame someone else when their little Muffin gets pregnant at 15 or their sweet Doofus dies of a crack OD at 16. If you do not take responsibilty for your children, you lose the right to to bitch when they turn out bad. You also lose the privilege to say "THAT'S MY BOY!" at graduation. Just stay home and let his friend's Mom who let him just talk about his girlfriends and fed him; the guy two doors down who helped with the home work, taught him to ride a bike, bought him condoms and told him how to be sensible and protect himself; and the teachers who pushed and challenged him to not just succeed but to surpass take the credit. Uninvolved parents just really piss me off, sorry. Another soapbox, i know.
