Yeah, somebody was listening to the live Red Jacket show last night!!! Sunday night = 80's Retro!!! i love me that retro!
Roni has the chicken pox. i stay home with her tomorrow and Wednesday, but Darth Mom will have her today and Thursday. i will prolly work 10 hours today and Thursday; i left early yesterday, so i only had 10 hours there. That way i only need to use my floating holiday and i don't miss any other time. My poor baby, she is itchy and getting all this attention! She is actually pretty happy ~ a week off of school!
i went out again with O.Penguin last night to be a sounding board for his new/old movie . . . i have to say i truly LOVE the concept he and Greg came up with and though i can't really divulge it here or anything, this movie with rock some indie ass in a BIG way! i can't WAIT to see it completed!
Speaking of O.Penguin, he addressed a serious lack in my musical education this weekend!!!! See, i only know what i have been handed and i was so immersed with what i already loved, then the 80's retro, and finally local talent that there are some rather large holes in my experience. Some of these bands i have heard a song or two, some sampling, or soundtrack work from and just never connected it to them, but i am SO IN LOVE with The Lords Of Acid right now!! He is burning me a whole CD of dirty beauty and i will be locking my self in a room for a day when i get it! Right after he finishes the Songs For Midget Strippers CD. And the super-special-secret-surprise CD. i bought him some audio CDRs. i am so excited!!! i bought some for The Crack Master to put some beauteous electronic vibes on and i am DYING to hear that, too, especially since i will get all of Narcolepsy Man's good stuff on there and i think you all have heard enough about how much i love local talent! Everyone came from somewhere, and if they never earned the local support they wouldn't have stood a chance to make it big. So, do anything you can to help the artists in your community ~ buy their paintings, music, movies, clothes, jewelry, books, jewelry, whatever ~ and then, one day you can say, "Oh, really? You got the new Glitch CD? i have the indie release from when they played the Blackout Lounge with Hard Sector Error in 1999 . . . they sold out the Bronco Bowl this time, huh? Wow! Did i ever tell you about the time they came in for Russ' birthday? Man, Christian can P*A*R*T*Y!" Yeah, and it not just about dropping names ~ i have made some really cool friends, and met some very interesting people i'd never have come in contact with otherwise! Artists make life more interesting for themselves and those around them. They are quite simply FUN! OK, i'll stop now!
