i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

i wrote this yesterday

Monday was a weird day, i was zoned in a big way and then we went to dinner after work with Russ and Mary while the laundry took care of it self at their house. It was a really nice dinner at Macaroni Grill but i didn't really get to enjoy much more than the company since i was so out of it. When we got back, we folded the laundry out of the dryer, threw the wet stuff in to dry, and all curled up on the sofa to watch Junkyard Wars with Russ and Mary on the facing couch. Roni was curled on Angel's right and i was curled on his left with his arms around both of us . . . and all three of us fell asleep. i woke up suddenly and folded the now-dry laundry, came back to wake Angel, and decided NOT to wake the girl. i was feeling a lot better after the little bit of food and the nap, but we were both still so tired we crashed the second we got in the door.

i woke up the next morning and remembered that i had won a prize off the radio station The Edge the day before because i knew the band who did "Spin, Spin, Sugar" (The Sneaker Pimps ~ i love the CD and it's one of my two favorite songs!) and somehow i managed to get the phone to ring AND i was the right caller! It would have tripped my shit right out but i was so free-floating happy right then i was like, "Yeeeaaaaahhhhh . . . ' *grins and nods like a stoned girl*

Tuesday we got roped in to dinner at my parents' so we left Roni there with Dad to help with yard work while we shopped for what we wanted to make for dinner. We settled on breakfast burritos and it was well received. It was a fight to get the girl to bed as usual but it worked out.

Wednesday i was supposed to meet up with DJ boy Extraordinairre, but he got in a little late and i missed his "Hello, i'm here!" call and he was crashed out when i returned it, but we're working on some plans for his swing through next Tuesday. He's pretty cool, i have passed the last two days talking to him in e-mail, and i like him ~ i can't wait to get to MEET him!

That brings me up to today. i just got the call i have been dreading. My best friend now knows his departure date. He will be leaving on the 15th of September. Ten days before my birthday. What will i do? i love him so much and . . . well . . . he's my BEST FRIEND! We've got e-mail and chat, he's got a digital camera, i have an uncle with frequent flyer miles out the ass, and they'll be back for Christmas . . . but it's my best friend . . . .so what if i'm whining, i think this is a terrific time to whine a little. i am used to having him right here, near me, so i can see him any day we like, call him at any time day or night ~ if i'm in trouble, need help, or just want to ask him dumb questions ~ and no one makes fajitas like he does. But then there IS Christmas. i'll see him on Christmas. After that, who knows?

Guess where i'm going tonight? Yep, that's right, kiddies ~ Russ'!

And, yes, Mary, my love, i will miss you more than you'll know, too. You are one of the few girl friends i have and we get along so very well . . . i love you to little bits and pieces and still more.
