i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

Let me try to reconstruct last week for you.

Monday was a hellacious day at work but a nice evening.

Tuesday, i picked up a hitchhiker with his two little children on my way home. They were stranded here and he lost his wallet and we got them a room for the night and bought them dinner. He is really nice and is moving here from Brady, Texas, to work as a pressman at a shop.

Wednesday, i did some laundry at my Mom's and then we all three had dinner at Friday's with Russ and Mary.

Thursday, yet another hellish day at work (they all were, but then we handle AA Cargo calls here at this call center, and we had to re-write all procedures to cover malicious calls, etc . . . ) and when i finally fought myself free of books and alerts and meetings, i ran away to Dallas to watch my boys play their last show with Russ. There is so much Band Drama, sometimes, that i know why i have to get out on occasion, but this show was worth every "Whose side are YOU on?" and "Tell me i'm right, here!".

They came out on stage in their underpants. Russ and Bert are boxers, Bridge is boxer briefs, and Hunter is tighty whities! And it just got better from there . . . Since it was the last show that Russ would play, i bought a round of Jager shots for the toast i didn't even know they were going to do right in the middle of the set!

After the show, i dropped P.B. and all the equipment off at Hunter's and we stopped at home to pick up some stuff then went to Russ & Mary's and fell asleep. We woke up the next day and helped them out by buying dinner, cooking it, and cleaning up while they finished packing all their stuff up. Then we all sat about with the Goldschlager i bought Russ as a going away gift and drank and talked the night away.

We finally got a quick nap before people started showing up Saturday morning to go to breakfast with Russ and Mary at Denny's. There were numerous toothpick jokes about hijackers and such to cover the nervousness, Russ was stressing, and we all told Mary to feel free to tape him up or just beat him as she chooses. She promised to take him in hand as soon as possible and then she and i smirked and giggled. We ate, took lots of pictures, said our see-ya-later's and made them promise that if shit was bad here near Christmas that they wouldn't come back then. i also promised them that we'd get our passports so we could go visit them.

Angel and i left there, stopped at home for shower and change and then came to work since his schedule changed and he works late shift. While he worked, i got caught up on all the diaries i try to read, checked my mail, chatted, looked about to see if there anything interesting to play with or read, and then posted.

i have the feeling that i have prepared for Russ' leaving so long that in light of the mind numbing and painful events on Tuesday, it hasn't really hit me yet. Well, that and i got some rather disturbing news Friday night that has blown my mind and set me thinking along some all new lines.
