i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

lazy daze with Bob

this weekend actually started Wednesday night . . .

i was getting tired of being at work and i'd packed up earlier than usual when i see a missed call on my phone. Ben had called less than five minutes ago! Voicemail! i listened to learn that he was hanging about in front of his parents' with nothing to do. i called back and we made plans to meet at Lone Star Comics on Abrams in Arlington.
We goof off there for a few and then wander off for dinner at Razoo's while we watched a nasty storm sweep over the area and knock out a lot of power. a little while and a lot of discussion later we head back to my apt to watch movies and crash . . . some time around 3-something in the morning.

Thursday was a blur of tiredness and i picked up my darling snake, Bob. She is a three year only corn snake who is pretty active and not quite sure of all this relocating BS. i set up her cage and lat her be until today but she's been shy and skittish. i did finally get her to calm down and let me hold her for a bit today, but i let her head back into her cage and down when she struck out for it. it is, however, progress. i still need to find suitable replacement substrata and someone who has frozen mice because i just don't have the heart to kill them yet. i know why it's better, but my preoccupied daydreaming of ways to kill mice quickly is starting to kinda weird me out.

Friday! Friday was another early day as things are slowing down a little at work. we're not sure if they will stay this way or not but i took full advantage by running reports, cleaning up little messes and finishing up all the loose ends. and, of course, leaving earlier than i have in a couple of months. i checked with Ben and he was down for Munchkin at IHOP. i grabbed the adorable Red and we ran past Lone Star again, WalMart (absolutely necessary *shudder*), Big Daddy's and then to IHOP to get in a learning/practice game so she'd know what we were doing. he rallied the troops and met up with us there and we goofed off and played for a bit. after Ben whooped the hell out of us all, even though he has tiny carnie hands, we left there, dropped off Red, and headed to my place to drink and goof off. We all finally crashed around five and they all left around ten-thirty and i proceeded to sleep all day. and all night.

i woke up on Sunday at nine-thirty and did a whole lot of nothing. there was a quick trip to Target and some online bill paying and i sent some e-mails and played with Bob but not much else to do. i think i'll go watch Firefly since Red was kind enough top loan it to me. mostly because i'm not in the mood to do what i really need to do: clean.
