i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

i seriously HATE cliffhangers

Wheeeeee! i finally finished that book last night. it was long and thoughtful. it also ended on the biggest cliffhanger in the whole series. i'm feeling cheated. i despise cliffhangers and i see them as a cheap tactics employed by serial TV shows during sweeps and the purveyors of sub-par literature to keep you in a never-ending heightened state of arousal before a HUGE let down finally comes on the final episode/volume unless the whole show/book series just vanishes, never to be heard from again. a good book or TV series will keep you coming back just to see what happens because it is GOOD, not because you broke off in mid-crisis. they should both satisfy and feed the hunger for more.

i baked some cinnamon-apple egg bread last night and did a big four strand challah braid with it. i also brushed it with butter and sprinkled it with spiced sugar to give it a little bit if a sticky top. see, a whole loaf has only 1/4 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of oil with one egg. i increased the sugar to 1/3 cup but still, that's not bad. i just wanted to give it a little extra touch of 'sweet'. i used dried apple and a goodly amount of cinnamon because i accidentally dumped it in there, not realizing that i had pulled the shaker top off that bottle. i brought it up for breakfast at work and everyone loved it. oh, yeah . . . i rock!
