i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

dogs, dogs, bats, and dogs

Monday was shitty so we'll skip that day.

Tuesday was fine and after work i went to clean up Dogland. it was kinda scary but i persevered and we made some serious headway. actually, we really just helped Clean make a comeback but it will quickly vanish and stay gone until someone drags it, kicking and biting, back into that house.

lemme explain.

girl meets boy. they marry and have two boys. she works, moms, wifes, and cleans for years. sons move out, meets girls of their own, and produce a new generation. meanwhile, girl and boy retire and get money from parents when they start dropping like flies. now they have a huge house full of only the most expensive toys and gadgets, only the best clothes, furniture, trinkets, etc, three pugs and a Weimaraner. then they buy several vehicles, an RV, a pool, hot tub, and countless antiques. finally, girl stops cleaning house. ever.

there were things in that fridge i couldn't ID. there are two bedrooms and a formal dining room under a mound of stuff they buy and stack, carelessly, letting the four dogs roam the house piddling on whatever they like and sleeping anywhere else. everything is left right where they set it down when it gets walked in the door. they buy stuff they don't need, forget they have it and buy more of it later when they see it again. they treat everything like shit. it's crazy!

we spent the whole day, washing, airing, sweeping, vacuuming, sorting, stacking, collecting trash, and generally creating some semblance of order.

sadly, they will just let it happen again and Cyndi will go back over to her sister's house and clean it again.

i didn't sleep at all last night. we got there late and the wave of dog smell hit me like . . . well . . . a huge wave of terrible unwashed flea-infested, indoor/outdoor dog smell. i can't relate it to rotting food though it had the same 'Nasty Smell Index' and you'd have to have been there to understand. my eyes started watering so we opened the windows immediately and then watched a movie to calm the kids down. everyone went to bed but i was in a chair in the living room and had to be ever vigilant that the dogs didn't 'get me' during the night so i read a book. then i tried to find a blanket that was not covered in dog so i could catch a few minutes of sleep but there weren't any and the chair could not have been slept in anyways so i stopped trying and started searching for food at dawn. an hour and a half later i come to the conclusion that the Minute Rice is the safest food in the house and i made a bowl. that's when everyone got up and we hit the cleaning part of out mission. this lasted until 5pm.

i took a shower but i still itch so i will take one here, too, now and then i will go climb into my most soft and comfortable bed and hope that all the pills i took wear off soon so i can sleep.

good night!

P.S. i finally saw League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and i loved it. maybe the people who don't like it didn't understand what was going on and who all the people were. the only one i didn't recognize was H. Rider Haggard's Allan Quatermain played very nicely by Sean Connery. i am finding that character quite interesting right now as i started reading one of the stories in which he is prominently featured.
