i dreamt i saw you walking
up a hillside in the snow
casting shadows on the winter sky
as you stood there counting crows
one for sorrow, two for joy,
three for girls, and four for boys,
five for silver, six for gold, and
seven for a secret never to be told

there's a bird that nests inside you
sleeping underneath your skin
when you open up your wings to speak
i wish you'd let me in

a birthday weekend in the life . . .

Thursday was just your average birthday - Brat had a late class so she couldn't be there, Toaster Boy is still in Florida, Mom got there at about 5pm and Dad didn't show up until 6:30. i got there early and started my laundry, washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and made my dinner before Mom got home. we had dinner at a happily early time and got to play some Mexican Train for three hands. i took the first hand but lost the game. i think. after dominoes we all had some ice cream cake, i opened my present and then we left.

Friday, Myste picked The Ronica up from school so Angel and i met up at Hooter's for dinner then went to the mall. i raided Torrid and got a great pair of black highwaters and The Coolest Damn Messenger Bag On The Face Of The Earth. it is black and just big enough to fit the whole world in the lovely little time/space warp contained within, but the best freaking part is that it has black-tipped red furry stuff all on the outside!!!! after shopping we watched Underworld and it was goooooood.

after we got out of that, Crank called Angel and wanted to know if we wanted to do anything. he said, "call the whole gang to Denny's and meet me there in 15 minutes."

i went home, took a shower, got dressed in my new pants, put on some makeup and did my hair and kissed on Angel in less than 20 minutes! we ran to Denny's and picked up the gang and then went to Angel's place and proceeded to party.

i was kinda nervous about meeting Crank and she was the same about meeting me but it was all for nothing - Angel was wrong - we didn't like each other . . . we adore each other! apparently she gets a little friendly when she's drinking, though and now i know how well she kisses (very well, indeed). all-in-all it was pretty mellow for me but a great night nonetheless.

Saturday i felt crappy. i had been feeling generally horrid for a few days since the horrid red tide of death had washed upon my shore but Saturday morning was bad. i called in to work, took some meds, rolled over, and went back to sleep until 1:30.

i felt much more alive by then and so i called my baby to come get me and take me to Cheddars for some chicken fried steak since i was craving the red meat this week anyways and that is the one good thing about the red tide of death - my tummy will willingly allow red meat. it prolly has something to do with needing the iron. we ran into a cool waitress, Kelly, that he previously waited on me and so i invited her her friend, this other waiter, to sit with us. we ate and talked and it was fun.

after lunch we ran about to a few stores in search of a new pair of comfy carpenter jeans for Angel because buying them made me happy and i felt that it was an excellent investment in my future happiness - as soon as he finds a job, he can tie up all his loose ends and come home for good and that means i can also get some sweet lovin' instead of only making out, snuggling and sleeping.

**note: while i dearly love making out, snuggling and sleeping with my honey, i truly miss the sweet lovin'. it's like missing the hot fudge in your ice cream sundae - he's the ice cream and we have the almonds and chocolate chips and the cherry on top but without the hot fudge it's just not complete.**

as i was saying, the jeans will give him a brand new perfect pair of pants for the job hunt and informal interviews. and new pants make me happier and more confident so maybe they will lift his spirits, too.

after all this goofing off we went out to The Tick's for the informal house warming partyish thing and found that there was still a bit of work to be done. now, i have a terrible pack-rat tendency and then i have severely anemic pack-rat quarters so i can't really get crazy with it but i understand how quickly it can get out of hand. it didn't get out of hand here, it got out of all four hands and then some, but the whole place is like a wonderland of antiques and trinkets and, well, 'stuff'. the funny thing about 'stuff' is that its kinda like takeout fried rice. you open the carton and take out what you want, pass it around and everyone gets some and you set it down, closed, on the counter so you can eat. the next thing you know, its 2 am and you are raiding the fridge only to find that same carton is full again. it is down right magical! you get one house full of stuff and when you try to move it, it suddenly triples in size and space-taking ability.

it was an adventurous pair that jumped in the fray to tame the house room by room . . . it was a tired and fulfilled trio that gave up at 1:30 am or so and started drinking after bringing a beginning order to at least three rooms. it was an exhausted pair that left at dawn so that The Tick could get a few hours of sleep (HOPEFULLY!) before his lady came home with the mythical trailer we'd been expecting the previous two visits but still haven't actually seen.

we had a really great time though that had much to do with the great company we were keeping.

i talk to damn much when i drink.

we sacked out at 8:30 and slept until 1:30 but then we fell asleep half an hour later and didn't actually get up until hunger kicked in at 4:30. that's when i jumped up, got dressed and bolted for the door. i was going to Denny's and was NOTHING that could stop me! that was until Angel mentioned Dragonwood and that was the end of Denny's. after dinner we came back and finished up a saved Monopoly game and then snuggled and made out for a few. he left at 9 pm and The Ronica came straggling in with her face paint and a tired grin about 9:30.

now *that* is my weekend update!
